The Projects - Kunta Kinteh

Kunta Kinteh is a nursery school in the heart of The Gambia's biggest city, Serrakunda.

With more than 100 children attending every day, the school is a vital part of everyday life in the Kunkujang district.
This was the African Oyster Trust's first project, and thanks to the generosity of our supporters we have already been able to transform Kuntah Kinteh into a bigger, better and safer environment in which those children can flourish.

Our support has helped the local community as they  have worked to build this fantastic new facility. Together we have been able to extend the nursery from one classroom to four, to provide new segregated toilet facilities and to enclose the nursery in a new wall.

Today we help support the running of the school, providing funds for teacher training and salaries, for the children's meals and for general day-to-day running expenses.

We have also created and continue to support a medical centre for the children in the nursery.
