We are pleased to announce that The African Oyster Trust has been accepted to take part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge, an initiative that will allow us to double the donations we receive on three special challenge days: December 4th, 5th and 6th.

Donate online as close as possible to 10am on one of these three mornings, and your gift will be doubled from funds pledged by James Holden (a founding trustee) and our 'charity champion' The Reed Foundation, all at no extra cost to you!

Sir Alec Reed CBE, Chair of the Reed Foundation, founded the Big Give 7 years ago, and we are delighted to have been selected as one of the Foundation’s supported charities in this year’s challenge.

The money we raise through the Big Give Christmas Challenge will allow us to press on with a range of new initiatives around our work in the Gambia, including the building of a fourth new classroom  at Stepping Stones Nursery in Serrakunda.

Remember - to help us maximise the extra income we receive from The Big Give Christmas Challenge, simply make your online donation as close to 10am as possible on either 4th, 5th or 6th December.

You can donate online here.

Thank you!

Harvest Festival

16/11/2014

The pupils at Berkswell Primary School have been exploring the work of the African Oyster Trust through their Harvest Festival project.

Volunteers from the Trust visited the school in October to tell all the pupils and staff about the work we do in the Gambia.

The school then adopted the Trust as their Harvest Festival project.

After watching two of our videos, each pupil drew a picture capturing their thoughts on what we do and what it might be like to be a Gambian pupil at one of the African Oyster Trust schools.

The pictures were a kaleidoscope of colour and packed full of brilliant ideas. Three winners – Anna (Juniors), Ava-Rae (Infants), and Laci (Reception) – were presented with prizes at the school’s harvest festival service.
Thank you to everyone who took part at Berkswell Primary Schoool.
